National Study on Health and Aging in Mexico (ENASEM)


The ENASEM is a survey developed by the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Health in the United States of America, the University of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Wisconsin, and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography. Its purpose is to collect information on the processes of aging and disease in order to have a representative panel of the older Mexican population. The topics covered include health care and its background, family, migration, child support, sources of income, housing quality and anthropometric indicators of adults (see technical sheet).

This dataset is free and available at the University of Pennsylvania website, previous registration is required. For the institutions responsible of this survey is very useful to keep a list of all data users. Syntax documents provided in this section can be used to tag variables and their correspondent values
