This survey has been carried out annually by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática - INEGI) since 2001. Its objective is to know the availability of computers, telephony, pay television signal and Internet connection in households, as well as the number of computers and Internet users and the reasons of its usage: access locations, type of use, type of applications used, frequency, and recurrence of electronic transactions (see technical sheet).

The datasets from each survey carried out from 2001 to 2004 are free and available at the INEGI website, previous registration is required. For the institutions responsible of this survey is very useful to keep a list of all data users. Syntax documents provided in this section can be used to tag variables and their correspondent values.
