The ENESS is a survey developed by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática - INEGI) and the Mexican Social Security Institute (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social - IMSS) for the years of 1996, 2000 and 2004. Its main objective is to provide comprehensive statistical information on social insurance coverage as well as terms, conditions and frequency of users who access the services provided by each institution. Additionally, the survey includes information on demographic, economic and social implications about the population (see technical sheet).

The dataset is free and available at the INEGI website, previous registration is required. For the institutions responsible of this survey is very useful to keep a list of all data users. Syntax documents provided in this section can be used to tag variables and their correspondent values.
